We are seeking a reliable and practical Facilities Maintenance Assistance to assist with basic workplace maintenance, occupational health and safety (OHS) support, and general repair tasks.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Job Description

  • Carrying out basic handyman and general maintenance tasks around the workplace.
  • Assisting with minor repairs, adjustments, installations, and upkeep of workplace facilities and equipment.
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards, and items requiring attention.
  • Assisting with the maintenance, placement, and availability of general OHS and safety items.
  • Supporting workplace inspections and helping address basic safety and maintenance issues.
  • Assisting with general repair works and coordinating external contractors when specialised work is required.
  • Obtaining quotations for maintenance works, materials, equipment, and OHS-related items as requested.
  • Assisting with purchasing and sourcing basic maintenance and safety supplies.
  • Keeping simple records of maintenance activities, repairs, quotations, and purchases.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
  • Following all workplace health and safety procedures and using appropriate PPE.
  • Performing other basic handyman, maintenance, and OHS support duties as required.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in general handyman, maintenance, facilities, or similar work.
  • Basic practical skills and the ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs, adjustments, installations, and general upkeep.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety and hazard identification.
  • Ability to obtain quotations and communicate with suppliers and service providers.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious approach to work.
  • Good problem-solving and practical decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on a range of general maintenance and OHS tasks.
  • Relevant maintenance, OHS, or handyman experience or training will be an advantage.
