The Senior Engineer – IP Transport Network will be responsible for the planning, dimensioning, architecture, design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of the IP Transport Network and associated transport infrastructure. The role will provide senior-level technical expertise across a range of transport technologies, including IP-based transport, fibre, microwave, satellite, and other access and transmission technologies, with a focus on delivering highly available, resilient, scalable, and efficient network solutions.

Job Description

  • Plan, design, dimension, and engineer the IP Transport Network, including backbone, aggregation, and backhaul infrastructure.
  • Design and optimize transport networks using technologies such as IP-based transport, fibre, microwave, satellite, and other transmission technologies.
  • Develop network capacity plans and ensure scalability to support current and future traffic growth.
  • Design and implement resilient, redundant, and highly available network solutions, eliminating single points of failure across critical network infrastructure.
  • Develop technical designs, architecture, specifications, and engineering documentation for new and existing network systems.
  • Monitor and assess network performance, identify optimization opportunities, and recommend network upgrades and improvements.
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex network and transport-related issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful delivery of network solutions.
  • Evaluate and introduce new transport technologies to support network modernization and business growth.
  • Provide technical expertise to sales and commercial teams for pre-sales activities and solution design

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networks, or a related discipline.
  • CCNP certification or equivalent professional certification.
  • Proven experience in planning, designing, dimensioning, implementing, and supporting complex IP transport and telecommunications networks.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, transport technologies, network capacity planning, resiliency, redundancy, and high availability.
  • Hands-on experience with fibre, microwave, satellite, and other transport and transmission technologies.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Experience in network architecture, technical design, engineering documentation, and project delivery.
  • Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of UMTS, LTE, and 5G technologies is an added advantage.
