The Graduate Engineer – Information Security provides entry-level technical support to the Information Security team in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's IT and ICT systems. The role is designed as a structured development position where the graduate will gain practical experience in cybersecurity operations, IT infrastructure security, risk management, and compliance while working under the guidance of senior engineers.

The incumbent will assist in monitoring security events, supporting security operations, maintaining security documentation, participating in incident response activities, and contributing to projects that strengthen the organization's cyber resilience.

Job Description

  • Assist in monitoring the security of IT infrastructure, ICT systems, servers, networks, endpoints, and communication platforms.
  • Support the daily monitoring of security alerts generated by SIEM, antivirus, EDR, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.
  • Escalate suspicious activities and security incidents to senior security engineers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining security monitoring dashboards and operational reports.
  • Support the investigation of security incidents by collecting logs and relevant technical information.
  • Assist with incident documentation, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
  • Participate in incident response exercises and business continuity activities.
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning activities across servers, endpoints, network devices, and applications.
  • Support patch management activities by tracking vulnerabilities and verifying remediation.
  • Assist with system hardening activities following approved security baselines.
  • Support user account administration, access reviews, and permission changes under supervision.
  • Assist in maintaining Active Directory and identity management records.
  • Help monitor privileged account activities and access control compliance.
  • Assist senior engineers in maintaining firewalls, VPN connectivity, endpoint protection, and network security controls.
  • Support secure configuration reviews for network and ICT infrastructure.
  • Assist in securing email systems, collaboration platforms, and communication technologies.
  • Assist in implementing information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support internal and external IT security audits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security controls, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining IT security asset inventories and risk registers.
  • Support data protection initiatives including encryption, backup verification, and secure data handling.
  • Assist in monitoring backup success rates and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Participate in cybersecurity awareness programmes and technical training.
  • Keep up to date with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
  • Continuously develop technical and professional competencies through mentoring and certification programmes.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Information Security Manager.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Recent graduate or up to one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong academic background with an interest in cybersecurity.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, Switching).
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA).
  • Basic knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, antivirus solutions, and endpoint security.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is advantageous.
  • Awareness of common cyber threats including phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001 or the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is desirable.
