The Field Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, and integration of Base Station systems within the assigned division. This role ensures high network availability through proactive maintenance, efficient fault resolution, and effective coordination with contractors and internal teams. The Field Engineer plays a critical role in meeting network performance KPIs and maintaining reliable service delivery across all assigned sites.
Job Description
Operations & Maintenance
• Maintain assigned Base Station sites to achieve required network availability targets and KPIs
• Perform proactive maintenance and fault diagnosis/restoration to minimise downtime
• Execute both routine and emergency maintenance activities on all radio base station systems and components
• Ensure all sites are operating to required technical and safety standards
Installation & Integration
• Support the planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation of Base Station systems
• Conduct integration of new radio Base Stations and network components into the existing network
• Verify system performance post-installation to ensure compliance with design and operational standards
Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
• Coordinate and oversee contractors performing operational and maintenance, project tasks
• Ensure contractor work meets company standards, timelines, and safety requirements
• Collaborate with regional teams to improve service delivery and response times
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all assigned sites
• Prepare and submit technical reports, maintenance logs, inventory and incident reports
• Ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with company standards and audit requirements
Desired Skills and Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Experience working on telecommunications sites (preferred)
• Rigging certification/experience is an advantage
• Experience in Base Station installation, maintenance, or network operations is desirable

Other Requirements
• Valid Class 2 Driver’s License with at least 3 years driving experience (preferred)
• Willingness to travel to remote sites as required
• Familiarity with local area is an advantage
