The objective of the Financial Accountant role is to provide timely and accurate financial results and analysis to support the business. The position reports to the Manager Financial Accounting and is focused on delivering monthly financial reporting and reconciliations whilst supporting the overall objective of ensuring strong financial governance and controls.

Job Description

• Leading the month-end close process including preparation of journals

• Completing assigned balance sheet reconciliations

• Provide financial analysis and commentary to support management review of results

• Ensure compliance of transactions with IFRS and other relevant regulatory standards

• Compiling ad hoc financial and management information, as and when required within specific timelines

• Preparation of statutory financial statements

• Engage with external auditors to facilitate audit requirements where required

• Prepare SOP’s and DOP’s and provide finance reviews as and when requested

• Actively participate in Cross Functional team meetings on key projects and initiatives

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management or equivalent

• Be analytical and detail-oriented with good financial skills and an expert understanding of current accounting standards

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role

• Ability to meet strict deadlines and stick to time constraints

• Additional qualification as such CPA, CA or equivalent would be advantageous

• Strong understanding of business principles and finance in order to interpret data and make strategic recommendations

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze and summarize complex information

• Strong computer skills and proficiency with spreadsheet and accounting software programs
